Cover Story and DPS Ideas

When it comes to creating my products I have decided that I want my double page spread to be an article which talks about the places to visit Cornwall. Additionally I will talking about how this places cater for my target audience and what activities is involved there for them. I will most probably call this article 'Top 10 Places to Visit in Cornwall'. Doing this will attract my target audience as its acting as a regional magazine by talking about what features you commonly associated to a regional magazine. Moreover, my other cover lines on my front cover will be all based around want my target audience wanted from my survey which was: Sports, Watching TV and Music. By using these features on my front cover my target audience will see it and hopefully be attracted to my regional magazine.

Looking at this magazine front cover by Cornwall Today you can see that they have included a feature like what I'm planning to include. They have a cover line which is named '10 places for romance'. The way they have featured this on their front cover is similar to way Im planning to feature mine. I like the way how they have added in the '10' slightly bigger than the text to symbolises the importance of the cover story. They have also used a yellow style font here which goes along with the colour scheme of the the magazine front cover. Furthermore I like the way how only '10' and 'romance' is in this yellow colour. They have done this again to symbolises the key words and their importance and this also contrasts off the white text and looks really appealing to the eye. This is defiantly a potential way of how ill incorporate it on my front cover.

Now that I have decided to focus clearly on a younger target audience I will need to ensure that the terminology and the content is what they will want to see. My DPS may adopt a lot of similar schemes to original DPS in my area but I will need to ensure that there is some sort of element that connects it back to my target audience. This element can be done through the terminology, content and the imagery used. I will probably look to use a conventional regional magazine image such as one of the coastline to stick with the theme throughout my magazine and then apply terminology and content which suits a younger target audience on top.
